Meet the Teaching Team
Saswati Basu Head Teacher/Manager
I have been in the field of teaching/ learning since my own children were at Kindy. I’m a mother of two adult children, a son and a daughter. My focus is to strengthen the collaborative relationships between tamariki/ children, parents/ whanau and the educators to be able to support each child to reach their full potential. I have worked in private and community based ECE centres in different suburbs in Auckland for the last 23 years. I feel privileged being a part of this unique Three Kings Kindergarten Community and support children’s foundation learning. I’m looking forward to working alongside all the members of our learning community. In my spare time I like art and craft activities, participating in Yoga and enjoy BollyWorx.
I come from Sri Lanka. I have been in the education field for more than 25 years. Previously in Sri Lanka, I have worked in a variety of areas such as a teacher in secondary school as well as a lecturer for student teachers. I have a master’s degree in education and have been working as an early childhood teacher in New Zealand for nearly 10 years. I firmly believe that each child’s learning style and ability is unique and children learn best through play. As an educator, I value and respect this uniqueness. I intend to provide all the children with an opportunity to engage in experiences that challenge their abilities or preferred ways of learning. I look forward to working with your children and providing the foundations for them to be independent, reflective, and lifelong learners.
Yujie Yao (Brenda)
Hi, my name is Yujie Yao, also known as Brenda. I’m originally from Henan, China and came to New Zealand with my husband Leo and my daughter Abby in 2016. I have been working in Early Childhood since 2017. I believe that the best learning outcomes for children are based on respectful and meaningful relationships among children, parents, teachers and whānau. I intend to support children’s learning through building respectful, responsive and reciprocal relationships with all of them. It is such a privilege to be able to work at Three Kings Community Kindergarten. I look forward to working alongside the children, yourself and the team.
